6. winter attire

I thought I'd show the way I have been wearing for going out all winter, and by the looks of it, will continue wearing in April, too.  Central Europe has been hit by massive snow falls and there are no signs of the weather changing into something more seasonal any time soon.

My trusty winter coat, a black and maroon affair, a poodle hat (or so they say in German), essentially a beanie with a tassel, and my book bag which I usually wear when going to uni.

Uniformly drab, I hear you say, and of course you are right. But I do feel more comfortable in dark coats and tend save color for small details rather than going for an all-out.  But don't the bag and the gloves match nicely? And both go well with my coat?

coat: Zara 2004 (NY)
bag: Gabor 2012 (Wien)
gloves: knitted by me in 2010 (tweed and alpaca, yum)
hat: knitted by me in 2009 (super thick wool)
shawl: thrifted 2012

I do have to excuse for my lame 'fashion' photos. I have no one to take them for me. You can't very well walk up to a stranger on the street, put a camera in their hand and say, now do a cool fashion shoot of me...

  1. Not drab, nicely neutral with the lovely accents of purse and gloves. Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday!

  3. Patti's right... not drab. Considered and subtle and for the winter. Love the bag and gloves. Interesting ideas will come from your blog this spring, I'm betting.

    1. Thank you Pao! I do like the combination of forest and plum and how it interacts with a big slab of maroon.
The pieces were not made to match as they were acquired or made in different years, but it is serendipitous how they match nevertheless.

  7. I like your bag and mittens! It's still cold with some snow here too. I have a similar winter coat for just such days. Your coat looks warm!

  8. That's interesting to hear. But I guess one should just bite the bullet and work out the self-release button.
