It's Style Imitating Art-time again. The picture was lovely, full of sweet colors. But if you look closely, you can see a subversive, menacing element in there. It has a hint of ugly going-ons under the beautiful surface.
I tried, I really did. I would have loved to interpret this more literal, but these kind of colors are not part of my wardrobe. I own softer, similar tones in small doses: wrapped silk necklace, a leather ring, a bag, the deep turq of the skirt.
I went to uni like this and thought myself really very stylish. Necklace was maybe a bit over the top, you don't see a lot of jewelry on students - but this lecture was mostly "grown-ups" so I felt safe.
The ring I left home, though, that was too much for school.

Very pretty, colorful, and not the least menacing! : > Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday.
ReplyDeleteNot menacing, no. I would have loved to, but didn't know how.
DeleteGreat interpretation of the picture. Even the camera matches. Nice!
ReplyDeleteCamera was indeed a lucky match!
DeleteI love the print on your skirt - a perfect interpretation of the water!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't going for water, but I see it now.
DeleteI totally get the water, and the fish scales. Well done!

Thank you Sue!
DeleteLove the japaneses-esque print! And I love the color combo; as you know! You look great!
ReplyDeleteYes, I guessed as much. Your outfit had been perfect for this SIA.
DeleteNo ... the necklace is perfect! Not OTT at all ... here is a place to trust yourself! Sad you didn't wear the ring, 'cause you were right on the money there, too! Pretty outfit on you, all elements.
ReplyDeleteGreat interpretation for SIA!
I knew the ring was right, but I suddenly got shy wearing so much jewelry, colorful jewelry, in the public. I try to educate myself to be more bold. Thanks Jan!
DeleteSee? I'm learning to take a quick snap when I'm not sure. The picture you posted should have told you the truth. Boldness comes in little doses, I think! A series of little decisions to make yourself feel just a little prettier might help. I know that's something I've done! It helped.
DeleteYou are looking fabulous! Love the colors and your haircut is the best!!!!!!!!
